Depends upon the diuretic, usually there are relatively short acting and hence, their activity in inducing a diuresis ceases after about 4 hours.

It's a combination tablet -

Lisinopril & Hydrochlorothiazide - 20mg and 12.5 mg respectively
Ah! that is a longer action.......should have stopped it's effect within 24 hours.....max.

I didn't state that the action that I meant was the need to pass urine more frequently than if you are not taking such a medication .

Is that what you are referring to or are you referring to the action of lowering blood pressure ?
LOL...no , let'd stick to diuresis (passing water).

Lisinopril acts mainly on the BP but as a mild diuretic as a side issue.

Hydrochlorthiazide is an outright diuretic.

I am solely referring to diuresis.

Thanks for that clarification

So , if i'm taking 1 tablet every day then the diuresis effect of the medication , could be there all the time ?
Exactly.
Question Author
ok - so despite the fact that its effect could be there 24 hours a day - it's best to take it in the mornings (and not late in the day and to drink a can of pop late at night , like i currently do )

thanks again
Question Author
Sorry sqad - i meant to ask
As i've advised , i'm taking this 2 medication, in one tablet .

Would it be better to take the hydrochlorothiazide seperately to the Lisinopril or is this 2 medication in one tablet just as effective ?
Bazille...yes take it in the morning, as although it has a 24 hour action, the action diminishes at the end of the day, but still present in a diminished effect.

I normal don't like multiple drugs in one tablet, but in this case, I would have no objection.
