Head engaged at 34 wks

Son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first baby at Christmas. Midwife told her yesterday that the head is engaged. Do you think she will have an early baby or can they go for weeks with the head engaged? Just curious really!!

It can become 'un-engaged' again at this stage.
It's quite normal.

Thank you everyone! I had visions of her going into labour in the next few days!! Hopefully I can breathe again now----- and perhaps she'll get a bit nearer to Christmas. Her friends have arranged a baby shower for her at the weekend, it would be a shame if she missed it!!!
can't remember exactly when my son was 'engaged'. quite a while before the due date.
I also walked around for two weeks at 3cm dilated before I went into labour with him :o)
Obviously he was in no rush
i am on my 3rd pregnancy- my last 2 were head down at 32 weeks and still both 7 days late.
all the best in advance
