Hi,

I am 19 weeks pregnant and have just come down with a nasty cold. My nose is all stuffy, I have a headache and sore throat and keep sneezing all day! Does anyone have any natural ways of making me feel better as I would rather avoid taking any tablets if at all possible? Thanks.

Nothing you can really do I'm afraid, Lemsip would be your best option as you can take paracetamol through pregnancy, I have a cough, cold and tonsillitis!  I'm allergic to paracetamol so all I can take is Penicillin, hope my baby likes it!
Not much you can do except have a lemsip, you are allowed to take paracetamol through pregnancy as you'll already know, I'm allergic to it and have a cough, cold and tonsillitis!  Nice doctors put me on penicillin, hope my baby likes it =P x
I hate this damned computer grrrrrrr :@

Try soluble Vitamin C, drink lots of fluid - plain water or hot lemon.  Have old fashioned inhalations using Olbas Oil or Karvol capsules dissolved in hot water - head over bowl of steaming water with a towel over your head.  Looks mighty unattractive, but can help to clear a stuffy nose and head.  Sage tea is also good for sore throats.  Good luck - hope you feel better soon - and good luck with your bump!

stop dairy and bananas (mucus producing) Drink as much non alcoholic fluid as you can. Take warm baths with an inhalant added (olbas do a bath foam which is great). Keep warm and rest. For the throat, gargle with warm water and lemonjuice, you can sip this as well, the vit c will do you good. You can use an inhalant on your hankies or pillow to help the stuffy nose as well. Chicken soup is clinically proven to help too kill the cold virus.
Jeanie, you and I cross posted!!
I had three or four, one-week long flus when I was pregnant which knocked me out - could not get out of bed without losing my balance.  Supposedly it happens because your immunity is low while pregnant (to lower the chances of your body fighting the baby???);  maybe cranberry juice would help boost immunity?

Many thanks for all your great suggestions, I will definitely be trying some of those out. one_mad_cow - hope you feel better soon as well!
My nurse told me not to take lemsip as it contains more than just paracetamol.  She said normal paracetemol was fine though.
