i have an 21 month old son who isnt in a bed yet. however, when he is i intend to put a babygate on the door and at the moment we sing songs to get him to sleep. He has three songs that he chooses and once we have sung these he knows its sleep time and i leave him to go to sleep. when i started with this process it took about a week of him crying which wasnt pleasent, but i had to leave him. hope this helps!
If you want to solve it you will have to be strong and just take him back to his bed without any fuss, and tuck him in and do not speak to him or interact just make some shh shh sounds and then keep on doing this over and over. It might be 40 times on the first night but eventually he will give up. It might sound hard but otherwise there are some parents who still have their children in their beds at 7 and 8 years old.
Agree with lady, try the rapid return technique which is a favourite with experts etc. You need to make sure there is no point for him coming to you as you will just put him straight to bed again. Easier said than done I'm sure as my 2 year old just laughs at me when I try this.

We adjusted to the gradual removal method which starts off with you sitting by his bed when he goes to sleep, and moving a bit further away each night so you are eventually outside the door.

With either of these options the important thing is that you really want to do it, because if you give in it will make it twice as hard the next time.

Good luck!
i have a 2 and a half year old and she was like that a few months ago, didnt want to go in her bed wanted to come in mine all the time, what i did was say to her right were going up now,she didnt like it, i sat on the end of your bed read her a book then told her, youve got to go sleep now,and im going in my bed as well, then when you wake up when its light we will do something nice.i did that for three nights now she goes up with no problems as long as i read her a book first but dont mind that at all.good luck
Nothing wrong in sleeping in your bed (in fact research has shown it can be beneficial to their emotional and mental wellbeing in the long term). Just let him, he'll grow out of it eventually,
Try and imagine youself in his position, he just wants a cuddle. Parents sleep together, he probably gets lonely.
