Ive been experiencing on and off now since last christmas although my daughter is 3 now. She never mixed with many children until she started nursery and now getss cold after cold after cold. I find she is sick sometimes mainly at night. Seems like when she is congested and lies down then build up makes her sick if you get my drift. Does your daughter go to a nursery or in contact with a lot of other children? It does seem fairly common i have to admit although i have been as worried as you. But after lots of reading and doctors visits it does seem that it is as they say and its their immune system building. Ive also been told by nhs direct that small children can get AT LEAST 8 colds per year. If you are still concerned keep going back to your doctor or health visitor. Hope she gets better soon x
my son was the same he got lots of colds and coughs sometimes chest infections that ended with him vomiting, it got to be aregular pattern s much so that when he was coughing all night either me or my husband would stay awake to keep checking on him as it was a cetainty that he would vomit every time and it was a worry that he could choke on it, he was like this upto at 10-11.
For some reason this year my son has had either a cold, ear infection, cough or fever on and off since christmas. He eats the healthiest diet I know - tons of veg, fruit etc,so its not that he is run down or immune system poor.No idea why - all doc says is that everyone is taking longer than normal to recover this year - big help!! He coughs so much that he is physically sick.

yeah my little one is at nursery has been since january .... not till march all this started happening but thanks for your reply at least i am not the only one struggling xx

Hi

My daughter always has a cold/ bad chest.

I did all the 'right' things - you know- breast fed, good food etc.

She went to a child minder at 4 months,( had to go back to work-student loans etc) she kept getting cold after cold, always went to her chest.

I used to think, this is ok, she's building up her immune system.

She started nursery in January, and low and behold, she's had a 'bubbly' chest since a cold she had in January!!

Taken her to doctors, asked why - they don't really know.

To be honest, I think every person has a weak area, when i was a child I always had earache, my friend always had tummy ache- so i guess that's where 'illness' goes.

So in my daughters case - it's to her chest.

I must say though, now she's three and a half, the coughs are not as bad as when she was a baby - that is, requiring anti-biotics.

I understand it's very frustrating, but so long as she's got a good diet and gets exercise - there's nothing we can do.

Gosh i've written load haven't I!!!
