my daughter who just turned seven lost her third tooth last week.This morning she said someone at school told her there was no such thing as the toothfairy and this also happened at christmas with regards santa but she seemed to accept when I said the kid at school was wrong,this morning she got distracted and didnt wait for me to answer but she will ask again, when is the right time to tell her? and if I do will I risk her not believing in santa when chrismas comes round for the same reason? which I would hate I think seven is too young not to believe and would like to keep that magic going for longer.

I never forgave my sister for showing me our xmas prezzies unders our parents bed. I was about 7 and still recall being quite shocked.

My innocence was shattered as a six year old when told that Santa didn't exist. My family were horrified when I promptly kicked Jesus into touch as I considered he was just a story too.

If she asks you outright if Santa exists, bounce the question back and say "What do you think?"

good answers,lol Trimeresurus we are some hyporcrites us parents but sure it has to be done kids are growing up too fast as it is,Will have to side step the toothfairy question a while longer dont think you can tell the truth about one and not the other.

I used to fend off *those* questions with ....."Father Christmas/Tooth Fairy is as real as I am............."

If you get the tone of voice right it usually placates them............:o)

Funny... As a child, I never believed in the tooth fairy (I liked that I got 50p or a £1 so saw no reason in stating my doubts) but did buy in to father christmas. I think at the age of 7, I did know that he wasn't real though.

I am not 7. I am 51 and I still believe in Santa and the tooth fairy (despite never having had a filling!!!!)

Just say to her that Santa/Tooth fairy only comes to those who believe. Sometimes parents give the presents or leave the money because they know their children don't believe and don't want them to be left out. Then tell her that you and her dad don't have the money to give her as good gifts as Santa does- that'll keep it going for a while more.
