Has anyone done this recently? Is it that difficult? I understand that obviously you ultimately need to get down there eventually to show them documents etc..But can you do most of it online?

I've not done it for a few years, but yes I found it easy. I didn't have to go anywhere with documents, as I recall they did a quick credit check on-line before they would grant me the account.

Thanks boxtops!
Last time I did it, filled in online application, they sent me a printed contract to sign.
I returned the contract with a cheque.

I just heard that this takes two weeks to process? is this true?
4 days in my case.

When was this hc?
Hi HJ, all my accounts are online accounts. Generally you fill in a short form online, get sent some documents a few days later, post them off and the account gets opened. Occasionally they ask you to send in copies of documents or to take docs into a branch but by and large it is very easy.
