registering a business

I sent off all necessary forms on 12th of may to register a business and a form to purchase self employed national insurance by direct debit, but i have not heard anything since this nor have they taken any payments from the bank for national insurance.does anyone know how long this usually takes.

I was told when I registered that it may take up to 8 weeks.
