I am about to be made redundant from a sales role but my contract stipulates that I can not contact my clients for 6 months. Is this clause still applicable as I am being made redundant?

In theory, yes, although I'd say 6 months is on the outer limits of what you could expect to enforce. It would usually say in your employment contract that this clause comes into effect on termination - and redundancy is a termination of contract, so yes it would be valid.
