How long do they take to clear?

I've looked online and according to Wikipedia they take several days, same as cheques.

My hubby's got his own business and a customer has been paying him for over 3 weeks now, keeps saying he's sent it by BAC's then he hasn't, then he's sent a cheque, then he's transferring it and has been one lie after another.

He was waiting for one of his customers BAC's to clear which should have been Monday and surprise surprise, no payment.

Today he has said he's been to his customer for a bankers draft and paid it in and his bank says that funds will be available for him to transfer within a few hours (a few hours ago) but I think he's lying still as I'm sure the draft will take a couple of days to clear.

Aaagh!!!!!! Why can't people just tell the truth?!?!
