Did you give them your debit card details or set up a direct debit with them in the past?

These kinds of sites are notorious for continuing to take money out of your account despite you only clicking on a 3 day trial or the likes.

The chances are that the small print in the contract has said they will continue to take money, so check that out as well as cancel your subscription in writing and have it posted recorded delivery.

I have never had any contact with this company in my life. I didn't know they existed until my bank contacted me. Fortunately, my bank put a stop on my card immediately.

Sounds like someone - other than BTD - used your card fraudulantly.

That's great the bank stopped your card straight away though, I believe your bank are obliged to reimburse you too.

My bank sent me an email asking me to telephone them which when I did they asked me about an amount which had been taken from my account by a betting company. When I told them I knew nothing about it they said they would reimburse me straight away. I only use this account for food from the supermarket so I suppose they realised it was out of character for me. I wouldn't change my bank as I get a first class service from them. It is the Co-op Bank and I have been with them for many years. My nephew had money taken fraudulently last year but it took the bank ages to reimburse him. The Co-op Bank do it instantly.

Looks like it may be an online US casino site...

Do you use your card for any online transactions (eg shopping on the net) or been to any supermarket where your card was taken away from you and could have been skimmed?

I use my card once a week in either Tesco or Morrisons. A couple of weeks ago I bought an item via Paypal, but I thought this was a very secure way of paying for something.

Could someone have hacked into your Paypal account somehow?

I can't see if Be The Dealer use Paypal though.

Have you bought petrol using the card? We have had a load of problems in our part of the country, due to crooked technicians who had set up the garage card readers to skim the data, without the staff knowing (allegedly)....

I had a load of parking fines, Rent and council tax arrears, a computer and plane tickets bought out of my account - subsequently all re-imbursed by the bank.

No I don't have a car now - at 78 years old I consider myself too old to be driving.

Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to reply - I really thought there would be other people affected. Maybe I was just unlucky.
