hi all, i bought a car on the 27/01/07 but i paid for a hpi check on the 26/01/07 from the AA for �37 the report came back all clear .since then i've sold the car to a dealer he paid me for the car but now its come back there were finance on the car .the AA has now told me they recieved the finance cliam 7 days later after the 26/ 01/07 there now saying there not going to settle me cause i have to pay the cash back to the garage.can anyone advise please...

go to a solicitor and threaten to sue them.
Aren't the AA checks backed by an insurance policy in case they get it wrong? Can't you claim on that?
do it the easy way. go to the citizens advice bureau. its free advice and they know all the stuff. 'phone them for an appointment, they will make some 'phone calls and probably scare the a.a. to death. really is the best way for the man in the street who doesn't want to spend a fortune on court cases's etc. Ive used them before and there super.

Tell them in no uncertain terms that it's not your fault their data wasn't up to date tell them you have taken legal advice(even if it's only from a friend) and intend to escalate the matter if it is not sorted out satisfactorily in 28 days.
Ask them them to whom a court summons should be issued to (small claims possibly) and await their reply
