How safe is it for a 10yr old to weight train? Ive started to work out on the weights and my boy wants to work out as well (like father like son type of thing).I realise that lifting heavy weights at his age can be damaging as his body is still developing but im keen to encourage an interest in any kind of exercise (he swims, cycles, absails and in general is very fit).Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Hi Wizard,

Its really not safe. I remember when i was boxing at about 11, or 12; the old coach would not allow us to use any weights or medicine ball until we were about 14 or 15. The body wouldn't be developed enough at that early stage.
