Does anyone know if you are entitled to this if you resign to become a full time mum? My husband will still bring in a wage but I am clueless about the benefits system. I have worked full time for the last 15yrs

You cannot claim unemployment benefit if you make yourself intentionally unemployed, by resigning or acting in such a manner that your employer has no choice but to sack you.

The point of unemployment benefit (job seekers' allowance as it is now called) is that you are actively seeking employment. This is not your intention.

As I understand it you are not pregnant so will not be entitled to any maternity benefits.

You may be able to claim other benefits such as housing benefits if your joint income is low enough.
