Starting up a sandwich making business.

Hello. I'm thinking of starting up a business making and delivering sandwiches to offices. I'm not sure where to start and am wondering:
1. Would I have to register the business
2. Can I prepare the sandwiches at home and would my kitchen need to be inspected.
3. Would I need a licence/insurance
4. How to sort out tax
5. Anything else you think might be important.

Best thing to do would be to give your local Council Environmental Health department a call and I am sure they will give you all the rules and regulations, and I am afraid there are bound to be quite a few i.e. packaging, sell by dates, how you keep them cool while delivering etc. etc. and I am sure you would have to have the preparation area regularly inspected.

Have you worked in the catering industry at all? Have you done any similar type of work? If you haven't then I'd say you should maybe think again or get some experience first by working for a company or with someone in the industry. If you still think that you want to do it after that.......

3. Yes, you would need insurance. Imagine if someone who bought one of your sandwiches became ill and sued you
4. Talk to an accountant
5. Try talking to Businesslink or some other organisations that may be able to give advice on setting up a business
