Glenis there has been articles in the scottish newspapers recently about a major amount of fake stamps on the loose. The colour is slightly wrong and there is no gum. The post office are having to recharge the person who is receiving the goods, as well as a surcharge. The are also opening most of the letters so they can trace where the stamps are coming from. I wouldnt risk it, as they say if it seems like an offer too good to be true - its because it is!
I think the moral here is :
"if its too good to be true - then it usually is!"

Some of the sellers look as though they get them from used stamps collected for charity - you know, you tear the corner that has the stamp off the envelope, collect them up and take them to your favourite charity which sells them to a stamp dealer for a few pence(??) a kilo.

The stamp dealer then sorts out those that are worth while and dumps the rest - hopefully in a recycling skip.

Some of those worth while will be those that missed the franking machine when they were used. Soak them off the paper, put a batch together and sell them.....

It's illegal but undetectable if the stamps are genuine in the first place. At least one of the e-bay dealers is selling an unsorted batch for you to do the work.

ok thanks to you all,i suppose i will have to join the queues in the post office ,like i normally do to get my stamps
If it's queues you are wanting to avoid, you could always buy them from the supermarket if that's where you do your weekly shop?
