//Where Can I Find My Health and Care Number (H&C Number)?

If your medical card was issued after 2005, your Health and Care Number (H&C Number) is printed on it.

If you have an older medical card issued before 2005, your Health and Care Number (H&C Number) will not be printed on it. In this case, you can find out your Health and Care Number (H&C Number) by:

Contacting your GP Practice and asking them to look it up for you.

Checking any recent correspondence from the NHS, e.g. hospital appointment letters. Your Health and Care Number (H&C Number) will be stated on the letter.

Checking a recent prescription from your GP. Your Health and Care Number (H&C Number) will be stated on the prescription.

Sounds like an Northern Ireland term. Is it like the NHS number? If so does she have a medical card as my NHS number is on there- I have although I can't remember ever using it since it was an accepted form of ID maybe 30 years ago
Sorry Mamyalynne- i took too long to post. I've never heard the term before but it clearly is used in Northern Ireland

thanks both. her best way is of contacting the doctor as she has no medical card at all - it was lost in the post some years ago and she never chased it up. H&C letters from hospital etc - throws them out right away.

Doctors is the best. Thanks again.
Welcome.
