What other article?

What a horrifying attack , maybe they have only just gathered the footage?

The incident occurred on September 27th - was it reported on at the time?
Perhaps the one where people think a women being tied up and robbed at gunpoint is comical?
No idea. Newspaper Editors often make baffling choices.....

I hope the family quickly recover from their ordeal.

Earth to Gromit ...

To me this is fr worse than some famous woman. Kids involved here.
Both instances must have been equally terrifying for those caught up in it.

You'd have to ask the DM why they have given more exposure to one than the other...
It was on the ITV News for that area (which makes sense) on 30th September, not sure where else it appeared if at all.

Personally I don't weigh up crimes like this as one is more important than the other - they're all horrific.
Ymb,
I read a proper newspaper, not a gossip sheet.

I suspect even you can spot the difference in the two stories without it having to be spelled out. One involved a world famous celebrity, and the other didn't. So an easy choice for the Daily Mail Editor to decide which story gets the bigger coverage.
Once again the police are asking the public for information, yet fail to give a description of these thugs.

Black, White, Tall, short, Fat or Thin, it all helps to narrow down the search.
AOG

Black/white - a bit hard to tell, they were masked

Fat/thin - they look thin in the footage

Tall/short - They look average height in the footage

I don't know whether they spoke or not.
Gromit

/// I read a proper newspaper, not a gossip sheet. ///

The Guardian didn't even think it was of enough concern to report it, but they chose to report the celebrity one.

But why worry, it did at least give you the chance to have yet another dig at the Daily Mail.
Mamyalynne

Never mind the CCTV footage, their victims would have gained a close up identification of their attackers.
///........their victims would have gained a close up identification of their attackers.///

If the attackers were heavily disguised, that does not necessarily follow. I am sure the family are helping the Police as much as they are able, and that the police must have a good reason for appearing so vague in their descriptions, etc.
Well I certainly hope the Police have given all the information out they have, surely there can be no reason they would publish the footage and not add any extra.

I don't live local to Leeds but if I did I may be asking the force dealing using the number supplied for what more to look out for - something anyone
can do.

Poor family it must have been terrifying for them.
AOG
You must know by now that I do not look at The Guardian.

The police's job is to solve crimes, not act as a news service. They will have descriptions from the victims, now they are appealing specifically to anyone who may have seen the car and phone dumped.
The lack of descriptive information is beginning to get very noticeable.

A selection of reader's views.

/// As per usual, no description of the
criminals. ///

/// A description of the individuals concerned may be of use when seeking public involvement or is this a touchy subject? ///

/// No description. Again. ///

/// Did they have local accents? foreign accents? were the threats made in sign language...not much of a description is it... "four men". ///

/// Some sort of description would help, calling them men is not enough there are too many of them, any accents? ///

/// The description is "men", so Plod has limited suspects down to 30 million people. Well
done! ///

/// Height, accent, skin colour, eye colour, clothing... there's a ton of information they could provide that'd be helpful. ///
I feel (not for the first time) that there is some sub-text to your comments, AOG.

Might I ask for you to make plain precisely what you are thinking?
Gromit

/// They will have descriptions from the victims, now they are appealing specifically to anyone who may have seen the car and phone dumped. ///

Oh I see, all they are interested in finding are the car and the phone.

I just thought it might be useful for the public to gain an idea of what the thugs look like, you know, if they happen to bump into someone of their description in the pub or the local Sainsbury's?
Oh, you think the attackers may have removed their masks and the family in their shocked state were able to give a full facial description but the Police are holding it back?
jackthehat

/// Might I ask for you to make plain precisely what you are thinking? ///

I thought that I had already made that plain to anyone with half a brain, but apparently not.

So here is the answer, to your question: I am thinking along with others, why the police have not issued a more fuller description than, 'four men'?
