Oh brilliant - the acrylic gobstobber is gone - a much better feel with the new chromium - only thing bit difficult in getting them out and in but that will come with time - a hell of a difference - worth every penny. I feel so good - that gobstopper in my mouth was making me ill and gagging and bloody awful - Hurray for me today. Also no more bloody pink gooey glue - Thank you lovely dentist - did I say that LOL??

Anybody else terrified of dentist please go even if you borrow the money if you can pay private - you pay for what you get.

do you mean a chromium plate ?
My friend would disagree
4 years of private treatment for her daughter has cost in excess of £10K and she has since been told (by the local teaching hospital) most of the work has been unsuccessful
She herself admits she could have gone to Harley Street for less
Question Author
I do Mally H - it was expensive but to me worth getting rid of that gobstopper and glue
but how does it stay in if you had to glue the gobstopper ?
Question Author
Well I just hope it works out ok for me. Don't get me wrong my own natural teeth aren't the greatest but they'll do for now.
great news conn, i'm so glad you eventually went to the dentist and overcame your phobia, I wish you many happy smiling days ahead. :)
So glad you are pleased with the result Conne, I have followed your trials - well done for persevering.
Question Author
Mally - there are little chromey brackets that go around my own teeth (2 brackets) plus she added (much to my dismay) a false tooth which gives the plate a lot stability. Tooth was a bit sharp but she filed it down and feels fine now.
Question Author
thank you Anne and Mamy - sorry for being a bloody saga re these teeth but I am so nervous but she was truly brilliant and had an unhurried attitude.
alas no good for me then i had to have my last double out on right side so no tooth to hook on to .and i'm a basket case where the dentist is concerned .
Question Author
no Mally - basket case you would never compared to me - I truly made an exhibitionist of myself - hyperventilating, gagging vomiting truly the lot but I have got there - I am a wee proud of myself.
Question Author
mally - I don't know what problems you would have but it seems a really good dentist could maybe know of other things that you don't know about - I mean do you wear a full denture or what - because if you have a cuppla of natural teeth they can do wonders for you.
Well done, JennyJoan.
Now, what is an acrylic gobstopper?
i have nearly all my other teeth and would like those little bars put in with a tooth attached but they cost about £1500 pounds each .which is a no go .might win the lottery tonight lol
Question Author
well Pete - acrylic is hard plastic - a gobstopper is a very large ball of Sweet that you put in your mouth (me years ago) - your mouth swells up with it LOL- literally a large ball - so the old denture felt like that - hope that explains for you./
glad it's worked out for you, jennyjoan. Nothinkg like being able to eat properly.
Question Author
mally you are talking about implants - yes my dentist really wanted me to go for those so for 5 teeth it would be £5,000 - a thousand a tooth. Now I won't be going there after spending almost £2,500 on what I have got. I'll make do thank you very much.

Dee Sa is the girl who had a mouthful of them done but got them done in Poona India - she said for a third of the price but me I wouldn't take that chance even if I had the money as you need to go back to get things fixed up if anything was to go wrong. I think Dee Sa was very lucky. She does love her teeth.

Why don't you look at her profile and maybe see something of interest to you. Anyway you do have your own teeth which is a bonus.
Thats good news, jennyjoan.
I have fond memories of chewing on a crubeen or two while watching the racing on tv on a Saturday afternoon.
Question Author
hope it works out for me too - at the mo the wee false tooth is a tad sharp but that will be remedied on Monday - it just needs a wee file.
Question Author
