When I went to Uni (1991), I managed to open two student accounts and got good deals with both. I did read in the small printthat they would only give you the freebies when you deposited your grant cheque with them though.

Not sure if people still get grant cheques or what though. Sorry if the info is out of date.

Hmm i cant be 100% but i think its illegal to open, 2 student accounts...if its not someone let us know, i'll definetly be opening another account fot the freebes.

The rule is usually still that you have to deposit your loan cheque with them to get the freebies.  But, as far as I can tell, you get the freebies when you sign up to the account, which could be months before you get the loan cheque.  Are they really going to go to the hassle of getting a few CDs back off you?  I don't know.  Maybe you could deposit the cheque in one and then pay it into the other...

Basically it isn't really allowed but it probably isn't too hard to get around it, if you can be bothered with two lots of palaver account opening.  They aren't going to arrest you if they realise at any rate.
