Both! :)

Also gullible Conservatives for believing that only Liberals can miss out on Satire... and gullible me for thinking the Examiner is a serious outlet too?
Most "liberals" I know of who saw and commented on that story seemed perfectly aware that it was fictional, a satirical commentary. It was published in "The Daily Current", which is a known satirical organ.

Thing is, they got her tone of whimsical folksy commentary bang on, and it is the sort of thing that you could easily imagine she would say - that is why is a good example of satire :)
From a woman who claimed to be able to see Russia from the bottom of her garden (still one of the funniest political interviews of all time), I would have read her flight 370 quote as true.

Nothing would surprise me.

I love Sarah...she's like vaudeville.
Can't really blame anyone for falling for this story. After all, pretty much anything about Palin is believable, when you consider what is already true about her. For instance she called three of her children Trig, Track and Bristol, hardly the work of a person to take seriously.

Some more gems ::::

"Polls are for strippers and cross-country skiers" –Sarah Palin, speaking at a Tea Party rally in Iowa, Sept. 3, 2011

"I love that smell of the emissions!" --Sarah Palin, at a motorcycle rally in Washington, D.C., where she rode in on a Harley, May 29, 2011

"But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies." --Sarah Palin, after being asked how she would handle the current hostilities between the two Koreas, interview on Glenn Beck's radio show, Nov. 24, 2010

There are so many more !
I'm not so sure they 'fell for it' as it was too good an opportunity to take a swing at her.

She is a bit on the nutty side so must expect this though.
ymb...a bit ? Compared to her, Farage is positively normal !
I was trying to be polite for once, but you are right she (and all the tea party) are a bunch of raving nutters.
Tina Fey's impression of her is quite awesome.

As is Tina Fey, to be honest.
Gullible, maybe. Certainly should have checked a fantastic story like that before criticising her. But it speaks volumes that there are folk willing to believe that is the sort if thing she might believe.
I am not gullible

I am a conspiracy theorist who thinks she really said it
and it might be true
it is the sort of idiot thing she could say, even if its a wind up,
