can anyone help with advice on my rights as a parent and my legal responsibility

My 14yr old has become increasingly violent towards myself and has beaten my 12yr old daughter on several occasions. my 12 yr old daughter and i are scared of my daughter, if she doesn't get what she wants she will become aggressive or violent toward either of us, if we are not about she will self harm. i have had contact with the GP and child mental health team but neither have been much help.

recently she attacked me, which i reported to the police. as a duty of care they informed social services who came out to visit us and discussed the matter, which she denied. that evening she ran away from home notified me after 24hrs that she was safe and did not wish to return home. i was told by the police and social services that because she is safe there is nothing they can do. my 12 yr old and i have had a discussion and have both agreed that neither of us want her to return to the family home as we felt unsafe in a place that should offer us security.

all im getting from social services is that i have no choice but to accept her back into our home, regardless of how my daughter and i feel.

surly that's not true?? we must have more rights that that?? what can we do?? doesn't our view for our safety count for anything??

i would appreciate any advice, on what i could do next

http://familylives.org.uk/ They will have more up to date information. There will be someone in charge of safeguarding children at your daughters school I suggest you speak to them also. they will have front line contact with the correct agencies.

Violence isn't uncommon from teenagers and yes it is horrible but is throwing her out of the house really your only option. Is there anyway you can have one on one time with each of your daughters?

I'm so sorry to hear this sad story. Is there not another family member your daughter could go and stay with?
I'm not an expert in this field, but can't you ask that she be put into care?
Can't she be made a ward of court and placed in care ? You need barmaid... if I see her will point her here...
