Never really thought this was something to concern me. However going through some old paperwork stowed in our loft came across something that may apply. In March 1995 we treated ourselves to a new kitchen which cost around £4000 and also took out a insrance costing just under £1000 for loss of job etc . Both the loan and the insurance were with thFirst National Bank. I have the loan number and all related repayments but not the purchase paperwork. Is it worthwhile chasing this as a PPI claim and if so any recommendation who with. Thanks for any advice.

i think that is too far back to actually claim and you need a reason! you can't just ask for it back. i got mine back as i have mental ad physical disabilities that made the ppi worthless - and i was told i could not have the loan without it.
You said you took out ' a insurance '
So you yourself made the concious decision to have a ' payment protection ' .

The misselling scandall was because people were sold PPI and was not aware of it or were sold it / advised to have it when it was not appropriate .

In your case , you'd have a hard job persuading anyone that you were misold the policy
Rather than repeating the above, for the reasons given by icg and bazille, I very much doubt you are entitled
OH was told that she couldn't claim PPI on a credit card because she took it out prior to 1997. I guess this will therefore apply to you too.
