Please could anyone give me a rough idea of the value of a UK gold sovereign in mint uncirculated condition. Assuming the coin is of no interest to collectors as such, what does it weigh and what would a gold dealer be likely topay?

Approx £250-280

and it weighs 7.98 grams.
You can buy a sovereign for £257. I'd guess a dealer would give £220 to £230 for one

Although a gold sovereign weighs 7.98gm it contains only 7.315gm of gold. With gold at £33.14/gm that is £242. You would be offered less than £240 as the dealer needs to make a profit, If you got more than £200 you would be doing well.

Many thanks, ChuckFickens, SandyRoe and Graham-W. My expectations were in the £150-200 area so perhaps a firming up to the £200 figure is called for.
With More information of Gold. Gold has been a international live of wealth much since the dawn of history, with every culture and era expressing gold weights and worth in line with their own custom.
If you wanted to scrap it you'd get about £30.18/g.
