The lady complaining about Bank Services, rubbished Lloyds Gold Account etc.  I have recently chosen the Gold Account and it sounded excellent to me, so I would like to know why ?  Whats wrong with it - I would like to hear any comments at all.

As I posted on the rubbishing Lloyds Gold Account question, I used to work for a Bank many moons ago and reckon it's not the Bank you bank with but the branch. Just like anything else you can have good ones and bad ones.

I agree with spud.  I have banked with Lloyds since being a young black horse saver at school!

I have a platinum account with them and take advantage of all the discounts it offers.  The accounts costs 12 per month but my phone insurance is free, if I had insured both phones with the phone company it would have cost be 12 in addition I have free breakdown cover, holiday insurance etc.  So I feel I am saving a considerable amount of money per year.

I have also stayed with the same branch and had the same account manager for 12 years!  I have his direct number and ring up and chat about my account and make changes without stepping into the bank.

Everyone will have a fave bank because it will be the one they have got the most out of and some will rubbish a bank because they have been charged or refused something, 9/10 its not the banks fault but the way the individual as conducted their business i.e. unauthorised overdraft.

If you are happy with Lloyds then dont be put off by someone elses opinions, if there was one outstanding bank then all the others would have closed down by now!

There's nothing wrong with these accounts and they represent good value provided you are using all the benefits that come with the account, like AA cover and phone insurance etc.  If you're not taking advantage of the full benefits though, then they're not good value for money. I used to have a Gold account but have now downgraded to a normal Classic account as I wasn't using their AA cover or holiday insurance cover, for instance, as I get this cover elsewhere so I was paying 10 a month for no benefit.

I was worried that there was something that I was not aware of.  I think it is amazing value for money, especially the travel insurance and AA cover.  Most of all, no longer have to try and find Ins co that covers pensioners.  All cards covered by Sentinel as well as mobile phones.  However, I don't think my Bank Manager knows that I exist.

The only reason people have those accounts is because they get a gold or platinum card, when they would not be able to otherwisise. They also have to pay a monthly fee for services which most banks eg my HSBC premier account, offer for free. ALthough, having said that HSBC's customer service leaves a lot to be desired !
