When sorting through some old paperwork at the weekend i found paperwork to say i had put my 2000-01 ISA allowance into a halifax account (on halifax headed paper) its so long ago i cant remember putting it in there but also i cant remember taking it out, my usual theory is that isa interest is not taxable so leave the isas alone once invested. How do i go about finding out if this money and account is still there? im afraid to let them think im unsure as they may tell me its closed or something similar when infact it isnt, tia

There's no reason to be afraid to let them know, They will give you a truthful answer.

Banks may be incompetent at times but in the main they are not deliberately dishonest.
thanks for your answer. ive registered for online banking giving the details of that account to do so - i hope that was only accepted as its still current! have to wait for a letter now before i can actually log on then hopefully i shall find out - cant believe im that lucky though - to come across a few thousand like that, its also a bit scarey that if it is still there i'd forgotten all about it!
ps Im on someone elses computer which automatically logs on hence the different user name
Nice bonus. But I'm not sure quite why you tried AB before trying Halifax!
