Thanks, Factor 30. Unfortunately though, they asked for my debit card details and then said something about £6.99 per month after a trial 30 days. I think it looks a bit dodgy, but thanks anyway

Dodgy? Experian are the main credit check provider!
I've done the free trial and then cancelled but if you don't trust them you can always purchase a one-off check from experian or Equifax.

They need your debit or credit card details to make sure you are who you claim to be - to stop somebody else checking your very personal details.
As long as you cancel it within a couple of weeks you will not be charged anything.
