My 4yr old son gets dla high rate. How come he is refused for mobility allowance. He is extremely hyperactive and has no sense of danger out of the gates at home. He is autistic but I am afraid I can't take him out anywhere on public transport for the same reason. Anyone any answers?

why did you get turned down for mobility allowance ? if you did what was the reason for it ?
Hi sukibee,
My daughter is 22 now, and gets mobility, she's also Autistic, we were told at the time, she couldn't get it until she was five, even then it was hard, you have to fight for it,, make sure you have all the medical docs etc. check the minimum age, it may vary on the childs disability, enlist the help of your local MP.

Has he been seen by a doctor, to judge his walking ability, awareness or lack of awareness of danger?, these doctors are usually ones reccomended by the mobility people, we had to take our daughter to a hospital for that, although sometimes they make home visits

Hope this has been of some help.

We were refused mobility allowance due to the fact that he doesn't have diffuculty walking, the problem is the other way, he runs, into the road or wherever. I am my wits end. He is so hyperactive he finds it difficult just walking.
