These people in America are against same sex marriage, just because it offends their narrow religious beliefs. If their friends and neighbours want to enter same-sex marriages, it doesn't impinge on their own beliefs at all, nor their way of life. To be frank, it is none of their business.
But because they hold certain religious beliefs, they make it their concern to be offended and thus interfere in other people business. They are intolerant of others way of life, and intolerance is a key component of bigotry. To repeat, it is none of their business.
The world will not stop turning because two men or two women love each other and want to live together. Nobody has the right to interfere with that. But because they bigots, they maintain the right to interfere, and that is what is wrong. All this is just common sense surely ?
