one dust cart here 5.30 am, followed by Barclays Bicycle van stacking the rows of bicycles shortly after, traffic really starts going 6ish, throughout the day, you would think you could get a bit of quiet in the evening, but a heavy duty vehicle has parked up and is digging up the road, its now almost 8.20pm - if i can't hear myself think who would be surprised.
I always thought that there were restrictions on noise, but its simply ignored.
some joker suggested in the local paper, to ease congestion in the day we should have all delivery vehicles deliver in the evening, my response would have unprintable -
is it quiet where you are? - thinking of finding a deserted isle.

The reason that I ask, emmie, is that when I'm on morning shift on my way to work I travel through my local town at around 5.30 am and I often see a bin wagon or two emptying those dumpster type things that shops use.

i can't even turn up the telly loud enough to drown it out,
Who said that:-)
Yes, very quiet here, emmie, what is a Barclays bicycle van ?.
Question Author
shout louder
Reasonably quiet, save for the hum of the PC fans and the TV.
Question Author
the bicycle hire scheme, rows of them dotted over the place.
Ah, right, thanks emmie.
Looks a good idea to me, emmie, do you have to put coins into a machine to hire one ?.
there are time restrictions usually, however, it's still early
Question Author
do you mean its too early, as this is a regular thing, one of the dust carts comes around, and the noise is bad because of its hydraulics, between 5/5.30am most days. I have no idea why they even need to be that early,
it must wake up half the neighbourhood
Question Author
tony, i think that you can use a card, i wouldn't ride a bicycle that heavy, they are quite clunky, having been a cyclist it would have to be to my spec, same as you do with a motorbike.
emmie, is the dust cart collecting commercial waste ?.
Yes those bikes don't look light.
Question Author
tony could be, i think it's some sort of waste material, not a general dust cart, but it wakes me up, no matter what

Question Author
its not that type, they come along later, so it's a double whammy, i just think that the whole neighbourhood could do with some quiet for a change.
-- answer removed --
no, sorry i meant 8:20 is still early
Don't you live in London? I would expect any major city to be pretty noisy most of the time.
