tax refund

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a tax refund. I sent in my tax return online in June and it turns out they owe me several hundred pounts. It is supposed to be paid directly into my bank account but nothing has turned up yet. I have lost the will to live trying to talk to my tax office and wondered if this is a normal amount of time. I have never sent a tax return online before and in past years have received the refund quicker than this.

I do my returns online & have generally had the refund in a matter of days - certainly not months. Chase them up.
I was much surprised, got an unexpected rebate last week!
Mine took about 3 weeks...................

oh dear, seems like i need to bite the bullet and try to get in touch with them, 6 weeks seems like rather a long time
The last time I got a tax refund was when I posted my tax return (after the last post had gone) on a Monday evening. I received a cheque three days later, on the Thursday morning.

I claimed a tax rebate from last tax year. The claim took some time (first they'd ask for A, then when I sent A they asked for B, then C).

Finally, last week I got 3 separate letters in the space of 2 days- one said they had calculated I was due a refund and would receive the calculation shortly, the second set out the calculation and said I'd receive the money shortly and the third contained their cheque.

So if they have already promised a refund I would have expected it well within 6 weeks
I usually get mine paid into my account about 6 weeks after the claim usually followed by a letter confirming repayment. Good luck if you phone, getting someone to answer when you have chosen department you need is the most frustrating problem.

It is always useful when filing a tax return online to actually file it!!! After going back into the website to check things, the first thing i saw was a message saying now file your return. i could have sworn i had done it but evidently not. the refund was paid within days of filing it, although i have not yet had the letter telling me i am due to a refund!!
