My husband has received some very important correspondance from his high st bank. He found it difficult to reply as the letter only contained the bank's logo and nothing else at all such as address or telephone number etc.
I understand that ltd companies must display the reg office, and company reg number on their stationery. Does this apply to a PLC bank who is prevalent on our high st but is Hong Kong based ?

Yes I know the bank involved and they are about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike or chocolate fireguard.
I think they have used stationary intended for internal letters.
If you mean HSBC then, "Need to speak to us?
Give our friendly team a call on:
0800 032 4738 or for existing customers 08457 404 404.
Personally I'd use the 0800 number.
Graham

I phoned the 0800 number and they were not at all friendly.
I have written to the Chairman 3 times and have had no reply to date.

Is this really worth getting steamed up about?
if he found it so hard to respond to the letter, all he had to do was go in the branch. Or get you to look up the address on the internet
Or stretch a hand out to the Phone Book, found the number for HSBC (every branch has its own 0845 number), phone it and ask the address.
I repeat, not worth getting steamed up about, or screaming "Is the bank breaching company law".
phone book??? How prosaic!
That's not a word that gets used on AB very often.
No
now you have me worried it doesn't mean what i think it dores
Prosaic: Having the style or diction of prose; lacking poetic beauty.

Not to be confused with Prozac, which the majority of contributors to ChatterBank seem to be on.

The letter was something to get steamed up about! I know that if I didn't comply with company law on my company stationery I would be in trouble with Companies House. I just want to check if the rules are different for a bank that is reg. in the far East before I report it .
Are they breaching company law? Yes, if it's normal policy to send such letters out like that and not a genuine mistaken use of internal notepaper.

Will Companies House care? Not much. They will probably write to them and say they have had a complaint and please ensure you amend your headed paper accordingly.

Would Companies House treat you any differently if you did the same? No. Lots of companies make similar breaches every single day and few care. There is very little that Companies House actually fine for.
