Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Easter is almost upon us and while the kiddies may enjoy gorging on the chocolate it is not ideal so how about some healthy but yummy alternative treats instead?

how about some tasty oaty biscuits:

These have honey as a sweetener and no sugar!

Chocolate covered strawberries or other fruit is also a good way to reduce the sugar especailly if you use good quality dark chocolate, or you could use a yoghurt or creme freche dip instead.

This is making me hungry and I might do the yoghurt fruit dip with some chopped bananas, peaches or even dried apricots (although these do have a sugar coating I think).

It can be difficult if you are around your kids or grandchildren but these are a great start :-)

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Thanks ab auntie these recipes look nice .
Stayed the same again . Hope to do better next week now the weather is warmer .
I'm down 800 grams and just short of my yearlong target! No Bread, biscuits or booze in this home for another month is no great hardship, thanks to my low carb conditioning.
Hello everybody,
Thank you Auntie for finding some yummy but safe recipes for us.
I have lost 5 pounds since I last weighed myself but it is due to illness and they have said that I mustn't loose weight while here. Hmmmmmm.
Jomlette you are so close to your goal. Next you will be eating to maintain it I guess.
What have you been up to Wendilla? :-0

Have a great Easter weekend you lovely lot

auntie xx
Hi jomlette I am managing to cut out the chips and bread but sometimes can't resist the odd baked potato . Well done anyway you will get there .
Xstitcher you will get back to your own recipes when you get home . And be back on target .
Hi Wendilla, I've discovered sweet potatoes have a lower carb content and that's what I'm using tonight, along with cauliflower, to top my first shepherds pie since being obese, all those months ago!
It will be a while before I'll be able to cook regular meals so when I get home we'll be doing ready meals but most of these meals lie within the healthy zone and ready bags of salads are also available.
I've missed the weigh in this week, but I think I'm on top of things reasonably well and looking forward to a few well managed treats over Easter.

I really just called in to send a (((hug))) to you xstitcher as I've been thinking of you even if I've been a bit too busy to post recently. Get well soon and keep posting. X
Hi everyone, I'm happy to report that since the 5 Jan I have lost 1st 8lbs and am 1lb away from reaching my maximum healthy BMI of 25. Really pleased with myself but would like to lose at least another 7lbs so I'm going to continue with the Diet Chef thing for another month or so as its working out really well.
Well done Tigger, keep up the good work. It makes all the difference if you find a diet that suits you.
Yes well down Tigger and Happy Easter everyone.

Resist, resist, resist!
It does indeed Jomlett. Diet Chef suits me for convenience purposes. As full-time working single parent I don't need to think about ingredients, cooking, weighing, measuring and what to eat, etc.
Happy Easter to you as well Maydup and to everyone.

Also happy to report that I haven't touched a single choccy egg so far and have resisted all the Easter treats offered around at work :o)
Happy easter everyone . Well done tigger . You are well on track to achieving your goal . Maydup I am sure xstitcher will read your post but latest update she is doing fine and should be home maybe about Tuesday hopefully .
Happy Easter everyone!
I want to thank you all for your kind wishes and want you to know that they really meant a lot.
At this time last week I was half way through my treatment but still lame in my legs and weak in my arms and hands. Now I'm happy to say my treatment is over and I'm getting around very well with a walker.
Unfortunately the Easter holidays have prevented me getting the temporary handicap help items that I'll need for a while so I can first get home on Tuesday or Wednesday. As nice as it's been it I'm straining at the reins to come home.
I've now lost 19 kilos. Imagine how more difficult things would have been for me now I'd I'd had to carry them about. Your encouragement played a large roll here.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE !
Good to know you're on the mend, xstitcher, with George Bernard Shaw!
Nice one Jomlett...I was on my way to ask you what you meant with GBS ref when the penny fell
Indeed good to hear.
No more than 5 eggs a day in an attempt to keep your spirits up though !
