Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

So Spring is officially here with March and hopefully we can all spend a bit more time out of doors :-).

So what is good to eat in Spring? Apparently, seafood like sardines, mackerel, salmon and oysters. Here are a couple of simple easy and above all healthy fish recipes:

This looks yummy and easy I might try it :-)

Also good this months are purple sprouting broccoli, cabbage, celeriac and chicory.

After increasing my carbs and exercise, I've lost another 400 grams, taking me to 72 kilos and my lowest weight for 30 years. I'm ecstatic! I'm celebrating with poached chicken with lardons and lentils this week, but I might have to work nights pedalling it off!
Wow, now don't go and disappear on us Jomlett!
Ah mixed results so far then, although most are off the naughty step.

In contrast to last week I was heading for a rise this week, but a sudden further rise over the last 24 hours has made it worse. (Perhaps the excess of the previous week has caught up somehow ?) Scales shows up 1.8 lbs for the week :-( Probably to be expected, I'm not hitting the daily goal very often.
I lost three pounds last week, but then mum came round for Sunday tea - and I baked a selection of mini desserts. I'll let you all guess where rather a lot of them ended up
Gosh, it looks like the naughty step is filling up this week. We need more motivation but then we have just had Mothers's Day which no doubt has contributed to some.
After a week of a slight increase of my carb intake and more cycling, I've lost another 900 grams! Over a year on the low carb diet and reducing my BMI by 6 points and my waist by 8 inches, has made me thankful I took up the challenge last year.
Oh I just don't know what to believe any more.

I apparently lost 2 lbs over 24 hours, resulting in a loss for the week of 3.4 lbs. But that's not all the weird unbelievable bits. The fact is that I'm using up leave at present, so I'm off work, and seem to be eating more as a result. It seems that the more I eat the lighter I get !
Well done again Jomlette you know what works for you . I have still stayed the same again .But ok with that .
XSTITCHER will not be on today she has had very bad back problem and not eating very well . She may be admitted to hospital today .I am sure we all wish her a speedy recover and hope to hear from her soon .
Og sometimes if you don't eat enough you wont lose weight . . Just make sure you eat wisely while off work . .So this shows that you may not be eating enough of right foods to maintain a good balance
Just to let you know Xstitcher is still in hospital having tests done. . .hopefully she will,be on the mend soon and back with us soon.
Ah thanks. I did notice no post. Was wondering.
Hello from my hospital room. I was admitted yesterday and I have a mystery illness that is taking time to put a name to. Short and sweet I can't walk...have lost all strength in my legs.It took a week. Other than that everything else is fine ...blood pressure etc. I feel fine and am being looked after very well. I have been given a single bed room in the acute dept amd am enjoying it. Lots and lots of tests. Thank heavens for my iPad!
On an aggressive version of Atkins here, doctor monitored (not initiated) minimal/zero carbs and 21 pounds shed in 5.5 weeks, come to a wee plateau though........cutting back on the wine (no beer or dessert wines allowed as they have too many carbs) - even though that has helped me stay sane.

Thank God for celeriac and swede as a replacement to potatoes....easy to prepare as a mash - peel, cubed roughly, boil for about 15 minutes, purée (I use a mouli), a good dollop of butter, lots of seasoning and one can add things like shallots, spring onions, chilli, paprika etc etc.....

I also braise chicory but then I lived in Belgium and love it - split a chicory in two, season it, olive oil over it and in the oven for 40-50 minutes, to the point it is just caramelising. You could put beetroot in along side, I like those with some ginger, horseradish or chilli mix over them, even basalmic vinegar is good....
Get well soon x.

And good luck with the diet DTC.
Hi to xstitcher get well soon and your iPad...free wifi?
Yes free WIFI and. TV and I HAVENT gone private!

That's one way to lose weight...!
You're right Jomlett but unfortunately I am not able to stand on the scales.
You will...give it time.
Get well soon Xstitcher X
