Definitely bread (yeasted especially) makes you put weight on especially round the middle. If you don't think so, leave it off completely for a couple of weeks as did several of my friends and family who needed to reduce their "tums" and noticed the inches drop off. You can actually replace the bread with cream crackers and savoury scones if you really need to...

How about baking your own?
Although brown bread is better for you it doesn't seem to make any difference. Cut down on the carbs, especially bread, and it will definitely help with losing weight!
I'm unconvinced a calorie isn't a calorie isn't a calorie. Regardless where it ame from. Yes ok I can buy into the idea that some foodstuffs are easier to extract energy from than others but I suspect the difference is slight.

I believe a slice of brown is going to be much the same calories as a slice of white. For sure when I checked different flours they all seems much of a muchness. But there are plenty of places on the Net where you can check to be sure. I suggest everything in moderation. And that excess anything, inc. protein, isn't the best diet.

Yes beer has alcohol that has many calories. Don't binge and you'll probably not be spiking your intentions too much.

As a rough guide one large loaf contains enough energy to run a marathon, so to burnthe energy in one slice is enough to run a mile. Worth thinking about before you have a ploughman's and a pint (or 2).

If you eat more than you use you put weight on, if you eat less than you use you lose weight, it aint rocket science
