friends with benefits to relationship

ive dated this guy for a short while and decided i didnt want anything serious so we decided to be fwbs.

i now looking for a relationship and like this guy but dont know if he sees me as a potentional girlfriend.
I asked him did he see me as more and he never really answered the question.
He said 'Yea u said im not boyfriend material remember, u said anyway.'

I am not saying you should do this but it worked for me - After seeing him for a year I wanted more but he never did. I told him I didnt want to see him anymore but we remained friends, when I met someone else I told him and he got really jealous, he told me then he wanted to be with me as I think how jealous he was, was a bit unexpected even to him! He then told me he had always liked me but didnt want to be put in a position where he could get hurt , to be honest I never thought he was that bothered! I never did this on purpose or anything to try and get a reaction but this is what it took after just over a year of being 'special friends'.
