i have recently tried out using eggs to wash my hair after i having read that this was the way our grandmothers used to wash theirs .it worked great, leaving my hair feelling less dry but clean at the same time(somehow the the consistency of the egg works as a great dirt remover).does any one know of any other ways(traditional maybe) of replaicing detergents in face and body care?i use ,face wash toner on a daily basis ... any ideas of natural replacements for them would be welcome.thanks

Rosewater in a spray bottle is a great alternative to Toner - its really gentle and won't dry your skin out.

Mashed avocado is a good face mask for greasy skin or you could try mashed banana and natural yogurt if you have drier skin.

Also if you put some oatmeal (porrige oats) in a old pair of tights and hold under the hot tap when running a bath - it is a great natural skin softener.

Adding Beer (for Blondes) or Vinegar (for Brunette) to your final rinse will make your hair really shiny.....the heat of the water & your natural bidy heat evaporate the smell so you won't smell like a pub or a chip shop!!

Just remembered...

If you mix normal household salt (or sea salt if you prefer) to a cup full of olive oil and use it to scrub your body before you have a bath or shower wou will have really nice soft, smooth glowing skin too

My Mum used to use an egg on her hair as she said it got rid of all the deposits left by hairspray etc, you must remember not to use hot water to rinse it out though! Sorry don't know of any other natural stuff, other than cucumber slices on your eyes.

heres one link for hair...
