Such a small world then.....I grew up there - my grandfather was Mayor 5 times and my grandmother 3 times....(apart from being Lady Mayoress)

yes society, it rather pizzed the family off as my grandfather was the 13th freeman of the town and my grandmother merited it in her own right. When she died at 83 she was still on 18 County Council committees.......

I went to school at the prep school to the east and now apartments as they buqqered off to Scotland and then went to that institution 9 miles further east
I do know the owner of the wine bar.My son is a friend of his and also a licensee in town.Will have to have speaks with him next time I am in there(probably Saturday night)

lol - same here but a wee bit younger, so guess going on 16.

I tracked down Tim Rigg (son of the Bakers) on the wed - he is with RBS - the two I am after is Mike Moser (his old man had the solicitors down from the Town Hall and old Booths - on the other side of the road) and also Ben Probert from Staveley. I grew up in the backroads from Burneside to Staveley......
I work in Staveley.The packaging company.Will make enquiries for you.
What part of Booths are you looking for? It is now behind Elephant Yard off Stricklandgate

thanks - you probably know my elder cousin who still lives on the top and then two cousins whose Dad ran the estate agency business - elder one is still in it (though he has just had a stroke) and the younger one is at Milnthorpe in building.... Their parents are still both alive and down at Levens.
Also I am sure Milne Moser are still in town.Might be worth a try to ring them

Haven't seen them for years as there was a split following the closure of the family Co and I never forgave MP's dad for not turning up to the funeral of his brother, my father, who died relatively young of cancer. Seen my other Aunt and her kids - she lives in Kendal as well.........
