Last Friday I had to have a single shot of Radiotherapy for a `Hot Spot` in my groin area and was in extreme pain for about 6 hours about 2 hours after the treatment. I still am quite groggy on my legs and spend all-day sat in my armchair. Can anyone tell me how long this will last, or should I bother my GP, cus I`m going nuts indoors?

do you have any painkillers you could take. RT isn't usually painful, but sometimes when things are "shrinking" it can cause some pain.

Some???? I have had a shot about 4 years ago, and it was painless, but this time----Jeeze!! I take 2 Solpadol tabs every 4 hours, but they are making me very constipated.
I had half a course of radiotherapy some years back, and it was on;y after the 6th or 7th session that I noticed anything - not pain, just tiredness. Now I know I'm a lot younger than you, but if it's affected you that badly, either phone the hospital and ask them or bother your GP
carlton. conact your gp. and i hope you feel better soon.

Thanks
re the constipation carlton. lactulose is gentle and available from the chemist
Its still very early days and will take a while to recover. If you are concerned then give your GP a call, I wouldn't hang around you need the reassurance that this is normal and its always better to get it checked out. Have you been given any leaflets from the radiography department as they may have a helpline number?
sorry i wasn't meaning to belittle your pain
would a hot water bottle soothe the pain a bit?

As mentioned in my thread, the pain only lasted for about 6 hours so it`s gone now but I still feel unsteady and weak on my legs, hopefully to-morrow will be better. G`night, and thanks for all your concerns.
oh sorry, yes I hope you feel better tomorrow, best wishes
Carlton - hope you get some good sleep and rest tonight. Just contact the GP tomorrow as already suggested. Sweet dreams and ttfn x
This is not an atypical reaction to DXT......take your pain killers and it should have settled by the time you read my post.

You will feel "groggy" for 2or3 days at least.

Hi sqad, very true, I do feel much steadier to-day. I think I`ll get my Mobility Scooter out of the shed, where it`s been since before Xmas, and go for a `race` around the streets @ 4mph.
