As a child I frequently caught very bad colds but now at 26 I can say I haven't had a cold in about 6 years, why is this? Even when the rest of the household had the cold I didn't get it.

You probably did catch the colds but your immune system operated so well to combat them that you hardly noticed any symptoms, if at all.

BTW: Have you decided how you're going to get to Harlow?
Looks like you've developed an immunity to all the different viruses. Lucky you - must be practically impossible, but watch out, when you do get one it will be a mighty big one.
You are very lucky Dave. I get a cold 2 or 3 times a year.
I am 76yrs of age and now never get a cold only the occasional sniffle, which I beieve is because as you go through life you have many colds and eventually get immune to most of them. I do take two ACE tablets every day which I swear by.
you have had all the local variants...and developed immunity .if you move to new area you might find you are susceptible again.... as there will be other strains in the local population.... STAY WHERE YOU ARE
I never used to get colds as a child but find I get them more these days. That said (touch wood as I speak), I have never had the flu... And I intend for it to stay that way!
My father only had one cold in 26 years and he was always moving around. He only had one illness in his adult life and, unfortunately, that was the one that killed him. My sister and I get every cold on offer and they invariably last for about 9 days.
I have not had a cold for years yet brothers families and my parents get them now and again. I do like to give my home a good blast of fresh air if the weather not too cold (my home never gets too stuffy). I have a very hot curry at least once a week (always a good cold cure). Living on my own, i's easy not to mix with anyone who is ill. I always wash my hands after being out shopping/socialising etc. Germs can linger on door handles. Probably one or more of these is the reason I escape colds!
I've never had a cold or the flu.

Thought my daughter had a cold once. It just wouldn't go. Took her the doctors and she had hayfever...lol

Hi Buenchico, it turns out I'm not going to Harlow after all. I hope it is not too cold where you are, here it is -10 C.
Thanks for the reply, Dave.

Well, at least you'll know how to get to Harlow cheaply if you ever need to in the future!

It's 0C here in Suffolk. All of the snow has now gone.

Merry Christmas!
;-)
