A stew is cooked on the hob and casserole is cooked in the oven?
Question Author
Thanks very much 237sj, I obviously need to start spending more time in the kitchen!
Isn't a casserole a middle class stew?
Buy a slow cooker Micky, then you can make a combination of the two without having to do very much at all :)
i thought a stew was meat, potato carrot an onion in gravy...an a casserole was kind of a mix of anything really - sausage, chicken, various veg etc...with various sauces too...

i may be wrong though...never cooked either
I cook my stew on the hob and my casserole in the oven. I hadn't thought about it before so 237 might have a point.
