Hi there, can any one give me any advice, I am a total stress head, I get stressed out at the slightest thing, I snap at people at work and at my partner and I can get quite nasty, afterwards I feel really bad about over reacting, but I cant seem to help my self.I am not always like the slightest thing can trigger it off and I start to feel so much anger inside and cannot control my temper. I hate the way I am and I wish I could be one of those people who take every thing in their stride.I have been to a doctor about it and she said that she would get a counsilor to contact me to talk about my anger but I have not heard anything. Can any one give me some advice on what I should do to curb this are there any tablets that would help?

Hi Emjac.

I was just wondering, do you target your anger at specific people or is it just anyone who happens to be there at the wrong time? How angry do you get? Are you just snappy or do you have some really nasty thoughts?

Do you get any other moods swings such as breaking into tears for no apparant reason?

How long do you feel youve had this problem?

Please be honest, after all no one here knows you and its good to be really truthfull about your symptoms.

Sometime anger can be an under lying symptom of another problem-I used to get very angry-to the point where I went to get help because I was scared I might hurt my partner or my daughter so I went to the doctors and I was diagnosed with depression. I cant beleive how much my life has changed since then. I also cant beleive that such intense anger was caused by depression (post natal in my case-but there are alot of other medical reasons for depression) I thought that if you had depression you just sat and cried all the time (which sometimes I did too)

This may not be whats wrong with you - you may just need to talk to someone to be able to admit what makes you angry/unhappy/stressed and then change that about your life. But the very fact that youve been to the docs about it shows that the problem is pretty bad. Go see your doctor again and push for that councilling.

Dont let them fob you off now that youve taken the step to take controll of your life-I had depression for 3 years and cannot beleive how much of my life I wasted just because I wouldnt do anything to sort it out.

Is it anger or anxiety? do you really feel angry or just stress and worry and it comes out in anger.  Everyone's answer to this would be different.

I personally find tai chi, accupunture and exercise reduce my levels of stress and anxiety.  There are a lot of alternative therapies out there, even as simple as massage, which boost your endorphin levels and reduce the stress levels.  Different things work on different people.  Maybe something as extreme as taking yourself on an adventure week, just to break the habits and start seeing yourself in a different light.

Good luck - i'm not very laid back either, never have been.

hiya emjac, well i dont really have the advice your looking for i dont really think but i thought i would put it on here just in case, when you start to get angry, why not kind of stop and try adn relax, take it a step at a time, you proberly will still get angry but just not as bad, just relax and think about whats happened and then carry on, i get a bit like that at school and i ask to go the loo and then i just kind of take deep breathes and carm down and then try n rember that for when i get angry again, also, if your doctor doesnt contact you soon i would go back and ask about it, ok well hope i helped lizzie xx
