I currently work Friday & Saturday nights in a bar. I get paid every week. I want to hand my notice in and need to confirm how much notice i have to work. If i hand it in this week would that mean working this weekend and next? If so the problem i have is that i have booked next weekend off as holiday.

Thanks

Don't you have a contract of employment of any sort? That should specify how much notice to give. Usually you have to work the time required, but it you are owed any leave those days come on top of the notice period or you get paid for them - it all depends on your employment terms. I would say that if you are on a week's notice and you hand your notice in tomorrow, you would leave a week tomorrow, 28th July, but only your employer can confirm for sure.
It depends on your contract. Most places ask for a weeks notice so if you hand it in today you will be free next Monday. Also it depends upon your position within the workplace, if you are a manager who has been there for 15 years and wants a reference be nice. If it was a uni job to earn a few pennies and you say you won't work that weekend what are they gonna do? Sack you?
Could you not have your last day as the first friday or saturday you are back at work
