Are the lines ever painted on the opposite side of the dual carriageway to a safety camera for oncoming traffic just as a deterrent or does the camera detect these offenders going the opposite way as well?

The camera looks like a standard Gatso type and has been in place for about 4 years so can't say if it's an up-to-date one.

Yes I was going a little fast late for work .... :-(

The camera will be positioned on the central reservation with lines on both carriageways. The camera box will be manually turned to cover each carriageway, for example once every two months. In reality some cameras are never turned but they only cover the lines they are facing ie. only one carriageway not both.

In this instance it is on the curb side of the other carriageway, not on the central reservation.

Checked the carriageway on the way home and there aren't any lines on that side after all so fingers crossed :-)
