...would that be enough to secure him a place in heaven?

Tempting isn't it?
Be outrageously naughty, shoplift like bu55ery, have illicit affairs then go & say Forgive me father for I have sinned... a few hail mary's or whatever... and hey - clear conscience? Doesn't seem right to me...
Sorry but priest or no priest any paedophile should go strait to Beelzebubs hot hotel

( BTW i was christened a catholic)

When we die, we all go to the same place total oblivion and decay.........Paedophile or not, Catholic or not........in my opinion.
I don't think any paedophile who knew exactly what he was doing, should be forgiven. Especially a Priest...
I agree with Sqad. Live a full life on Earth as you are a long time buried under it.
yeah - but the paedophile's should be buried under it a lot sooner than folk just "enjoying themselves". Bit of a difference.
Quite so salla. I agree 100%
I agree salla x
I think you need repentance as well as just confession.

I believe that after this there's nothing but mouldering decay.
I also believe that there are some sins, or crimes, that are beyond forgiveness. Paedophilia and murder being two of them.
What's a sincere confession?
By the sounds of the Catholic confession box system (I'm not Catholic by the way) - confessing is a doddle. What matters is whether one is truly sorry or repentful (is there such a word?). No point just confessing to get sin absolved or to make you feel better - sorry should mean genuinely sorry. I wonder if this Priest is truly sorry, or just pee'd off that he got found out?

Just a point.

It must be a terrible feeling to go through life needing to fulfil your sexual desires only with young children.

How does one suppress those desires, as the Medical profession would have nothing to offer even if you dared admit to it.

People with endogenous depression who have a desire to kill themselves also live a desperate life, but they get sympathy from the professionals and treatment.

Is there anybody brave enough to come onto this thread and explain these paedophilic feelings and would we be sympathetic to him?
Like Salla says. You don't have to confess your sins you have to feel really sorry. As God is all knowing he knows if the feelings are sincere.

Yes...I'm a Catholic.
Good point sqad.
But chances are, he'd be lynched....?
I would like to think he would be given a fair hearing, but... it's one of those topics where emotions invariably take over.
No sqad....If I couldn't suppress my sexual feelings towards a child I'd kill myself.
