If so the treatment is usually painkillers (NSAID) and in severe cases sometimes surgery is required.

In some cases I believe a chiropractor or an osteopath can help to relieve the pain.

My dad had it in his shoulders years ago and he had a steroid injection into his spine. It worked really well and if the condition ever bothered him again, he never said so.
