If a mole (body not garden!) is removed and is ok, will all my moles be ok?

I have lots of moles (blue eyes, fairskin so not unusual) and went to get one checked out at the Drs. I was literally in there for two minutes, she looked, scratched it and then gave me a prescription for some cream! I was a bit puzzled but she said it looks sore so use this for a week and go back if I still wasn't happy.

I didn't go to the Dr because it hurt, I went to get it checked and am not sure what to do next? I have 3 or 4 moles which also look a bit odd to my friend (she did some nursing training and recommended I get them checked) but didn't mention these. If I go back what will happen? If the mole is removed and is ok does that mean the others will be ok?

The suspicious mole should be seen by a Dermatologist and if necessary excised and biopsied.
Your GP couldn't have considered it "suspicious"

You other moles......if they, get bigger, itch, bleed ot change colour, then these signs should be treated as "suspicious."

All the moles are different and need checking separately. Doc will look for signs as sqad says - also unevenness of shape and color.

Doc will also consider your risk factors such as skintone and use of sunbeds.

Suggest you put the cream on, see how you get on then go back and ask the Doc to have a look at all your moles. If she is unconcerned great. Now your nurse friend has looked once she will be in a good position to notice any changes over a few months and if she does notice any changes go back again to the doctor.

Thanks for your answers. I went because it has changed colour and is very bumby/raised, not sure how to describe!

I think most of us have a friend who did some nursing training ... but I imagine there will be a lot less who have friends who actually PASSED the training ...

Rude and uncalled for. You have no idea as to the background of 'some nursing training' and I can assure you it is nothing like you are obviously thinking.

If there are moles you are worried about, it might be worth getting your friend to take a good clear photo of each (against a ruler as scale). That way when you check them periodically you will have something concrete to compare against for changes, and if necessary to show to the doctor.

filthiestfis, thank you for your comment. I did think that before I gave a reply but was too annoyed not to! It has taken me more than a year to pluck up the courage to get this mole checked out because I didn't want to waste their time. Luckily there are helpful people here too, I hope some of them are able to answer your question :)

you need a referral to see a specialist at the hospital. try to get it sorted asap.

and think about changing your GP!

what I was meaning (which obviously went straight over your head) was did some training means didn't complete the training .... therefore any medical advice is likely to be unreliable

would you trust a doctor who had "sort of" done a couple of years?
