Can anyone give me some advice on headaches! I have started to get headaches near on when I am about to come on my period. They last ALL day and talking paracetamol only covers up the initial pain... when they ware off its back! Its like a dull ache! Is there anything I can take leading up to my period to stop these headaches??? I have never suffered previously! Thanks!

It could be hormonal migraine...something to do with falling oestrogen levels I think. Go & see your Gp about it.
Are you on the Pll and if so which one?

I went to my GP.. he was not very interested.... ! The pill I am on is Microgynon?
Been there!! I used to be on that pill, I'm on the injection now though and don't suffer. Migraleve or similar is the only thing that worked for me.
GP not interested? and many posters say why get advice from strangers on AB?

O.K Microgynon is both oestrogen and progesterone and it may be the oestrogen bit is causing the headaches.

Go back to your disinterested GP and ask him if he would change you over to a Progesterone only pill.

Disintereted!.....disgusting.

yeah I was not impressed either! And I hardly go to the GP for that reason.... feel like I don't want to waste their time!
But these headaches... are ONLY around my period so I am sure its linked to them!
And its a different pain to a hangover... so I am sure its to do with it!
I have been on the pill for a few years, maybe its just a body change! I will go back and get another pill!!!
Isn't there another doctor at the surgery?
as robinia said they are hormonal migraines which is why you get them around your period
I can't believe your GP wasn't interested - that's outrageous. Especially when it's a well known fact that there's a link between being on the pill, migraines and blood clots. Obviously 9 times out of 10, it's nothing to worry about, but should most definitely not be just dismissed.
I would insist on seeing a female GP or a nurse.

I was on the same Pill as you some years ago and suffered with headaches and migraines the first 2 days of my period. It stopped as soon as I came off that particular pill.

Good luck
A "FEMALE GP?"... what a sexist remark.

I think maybe I did not put enough emphasis on how bad they are! I HATE going to my GP - the nurses are lovely but the docs are crusty men and women! LOL

But... thanks for all the info... I am going to go and push to get my pill changed and try another one.

I am glad I came across your post - I have been on microgynon for years but only this year I have started getting a headache on 1st and sometimes 2nd day of period. Nothing to serious but there - actually said this morning I feel like I have been boozing but have not!
