blood with clots

i am so confused i cant figure what this is...

I noticed whenever i woke up i would have some blood in my spit - didnt cough it up or vommit it up just in my spit. sometimes i would even have a burning sensation at the back of my throat and on my tounge.

Afew days ago i woke up had the blood again but it was bright red and with clots. I dont understand where this could possibly be coming from...? I have a wierd sensation in my neck like there is a lump, i can feel something hard like a rock next to my voice box. I have very little pain, infact pain only ever occurs when i sit upright (i.e its starting now whilst im typing this on the comp!) but i know if i stand up, the pain will slowly alleviate. It also radiates to my ears, but again "only" when sitting down.

No pain swollowing, i have a swollen tonsel, and some swelling on the roof of my mouth but no pain.

Ive had it checked by the dentist who advised no gum problems and no other cause of random bleeding.

I saw my doctor when i started having swelling on the roof of my mouth (i went because the burning sensation was becoming unbearable) he advised i had reflux disease and gave me omprozole which hasnt really stopped the swelling but has stopped the burning.

He has put me through to an E.N.T specialist (although a 2nd doctor i saw said he wouldve prefered to cancel the appointment but said to keep it to ease my own mind) Im going back tommorow to explain about the blood again and show them a sample, as to be honest they almost disregarded the bleeding and didnt think anything of it. I almost had panic attacks because of it because sometimes its not even mixed with saliva, just bright red its kinda scary!

anyways - concidering i feel fine otherwise and only have pain when sitting, no obvious external swelling, just the feeling of a solid rock lump near my voice box. No change in tone or sound of my voice

If you have baffled the dentist and the doctor and are seeing a specialist tomorrow I doubt if anyone here will be able to help say what is wrong with you. Sounds awful and I hope that you get a professional diagnosis soon. Can only offer sympathy.

Bit confusing.

Do you or do you not feel a swelling with your fingers in your neck....yes or no?

It sound as though you have a submucosal haematoma ( blood blister) in the back of your throat which keeps bursting and refilling.

You have an appointment to see an ENT Specialist and he will look down your throat with a telescope (Naso-endoscope) to confirm or refute my ideas.

i do feel some swelling on my neck. Ya know where your adams apple is? well i feel that, then underneath it i feel a second lump that is rock solid. i dont have any other swelling around the sides of my neck or near my ears.

i posted on here because the E.N.T appointment isnt until late june and i feel really really uneasy just continually bringing up this blood every morning - the psychological aspect is killing me more! so i just wanted some ideas what it could be...

of course you know what doctors are like - the first time i saw them and mentioned the blood he didnt seem interested and said he would book the E.N.T appointment as a side of caution - then he said to rule out cancer! Im like WTF?! thanks for the reassurance! Im only 24!

the blood blister seems the most plausable thing at the moment, ive tried to think of other things and been reading on the internet what i can find. Today has been wierd though - ive had low blood pressure all day i feel soooo tired but cant sleep, faint, woozy and clammy - could it be related?

Age 24....bit young for malignant disease as such, but the cold clammy skin and tiredness could be related to the lump.

You will have to wait until the ENT surgeon has seen you.

for anyone interested i went to the docs today - did a general overall examination...said he cant feel any lumps on my neck so im starting to think i was maybe paranoid about that! lol :P

anyways i still feel like i have swelling there even if there isnt a lump but he said nothing obvious the ent ppl will have to check with a camera down throat. as for the blood so no alarm bells ringing as everything else seems fine...i dont know how reassuring that is, he seemed stumped that i wasnt coughing or vommiting it, i had to explain about 3 times i wake up and just spit, dont cough or vommit. anyways he said to do a blood test to see what they can find...i cant remember what he said about that though

does anyone know what important things the blood test would show? anyways he said himself he expects results to be normal

i dunno how reassuring that all is...because i still have all my symptoms...im starting to wonder if im having some wierd reaction to the meds im currently taking which is arthrotec that ive been taking for a month and a half due to a chest problem. he said that bleeding can sometimes be expected from taking NSAID's (although i think he said that with the assumption the i was coughing or vommiting the blood) when i explained this isnt the case and asked where he thought the blood could be coming from i got no answer! lol :P
