Basically I caught my finger and pulled my hand away fast and in the process katate chopped a steel pole. Ow! Went to minor injuries who took an xray and three staff there said it was probably broken. ( Small finger metacarpal at wrist end) They sent the xray to the main hospital and 3 days later they told me it wasn't. Told to go away and it could take up to 6 weeks to heal. Went away on holiday and came back and it is now over 8 1/2 weeks . Although there is some slight improvement my wrist is clicking and I have some tingling down to the base of my little finger. Visited the gp this week and he said it is probably chipped (the head of the metacarpal) and could take another 8 weeks to heal!!??? Do I accept this wait or go back and ask for more help? ( I have not had this strapped up)
Any help appreciated

Go back to the hospital as it sounds as though you have a fractured 5th metacarpal that needs immobilization with a plaster cast. Ask someone to review the X-Ray.

Shall I go back to the minor injuries where they took the xray or go to my gp and tell him I am very unhappy?
